Story of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was founded by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS) on March 23rd 1889 by taking Bai'at - a pledge of allegiance - from forty people on ten conditions in - Ludhiana -a small town in India. God had commanded Hadhrat Ahmad (AS) to announce to the people to join his community by taking Bai'at.

Afterwards, God revealed to him that he was the Promised Messiah, whose advent was foretold by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) fourteen hundred years ago. God also revealed to him that Jesus of Nazreth (Peace be on him) was saved from the cross and he died a natural death much later at a ripe old age. Hadhrat Ahmad (AS) announced this in his book called Fath-e-Islam (Victory of Islam) in 1990. This resulted in edict from most of the Muslim religious clergy of India that he was a Kafir (infidel).

Hadhrat Ahmad (AS) invited all the religious communities of India for religious debate and challenge them to show heavenly sign in the support of their religion. He claimed that Islam is the true faith in this day and age. And he claimed that God will show heavenly signs for him for the sake of Islam. The written and oral debates that followed won him more enemies than friends amongst all the religions of the Indian subcontinent.

Such were the circumstances in which Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was founded. The whole of the Indian subcontinent was against Hadhrat Ahmad (AS) and his community. All major religious communities' collective journalistic abilities were against him.

Many religious communities were suing him with civil and criminal lawsuits. The community consisted of only a few thousand people in those early years. At that time, Hadhrat Ahmad (AS) claimed that God has told him," I shall cause thy message to reach the corners of the earth". He said that God had told him a time will come that the majority of the world will accept Ahmadiyya the true Islam. It is amazing how that claim has come true. Now Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has established their branches in more than 190 countries.

In this blog, I will write in detail about how the message of Ahmadiyya - the true Islam - spread and gained acceptance in the whole world.
